Car Shows

I LOVE CAR SHOWS!  I like looking down memory lane and thinking what my life was like when the cars were young.   70's music, hot dogs and balmy weather - to me, the best way to spend a summer evening.

Below are some pictures I took at our local car show in Barrington.  One day, maybe that will be me sitting on my pull up chair and reminiscing!

Chicago, Chicago - it's my kind of town!

This town is just one photo op after another.   I would love to take pictures of the beautiful draw bridges that surround the town!  Another day......

Red Rock Canyon

My husband and I took a drive around Red Rock Canyon last week.  The park is completely different from the hustle and bustle of the Las Vegas Strip.  Here, it is quiet (except for the hundreds of cars enjoying the beautiful scenery) and almost spiritual.  I took my Canon Rebel with me and had some fun taking pictures of the beautiful desert colors - red, cream, beige and lots of different shades of greens.

While there, we met a fellow photographer who gave me tips on how to get some good pictures.  Still lots to learn, but with places like Red Rock Canyon, it is fun and entertaining!

The Evergreen Cemetary

Today I took some photos from the cemetery close to my home.  It was a beautiful scene - with snow blanketing the grave stones and fake flowers peaking through the snow.  The clouds were moving slowly and were a fitting backdrop to the quiet cemetery.



 

I enjoyed the headstones and their different tones and textures.  It was the perfect mixture of old and new.  I even layed down and made a snow angel - how appropriate!!!

 

Finally I played around with the lighting and took this picture of the view from the top of the cemetery by the monument.  It was a fitting close to a fun afternoon.    I love my photography class.  It has given me the confidence to go out and see the world from the perspective of a lens!!!

 

Break the Rules....

The best shots come from knowing all the rules - and then breaking them!!!  I can't wait to learn the rules that I can break.  Here is a couple of shots from NYC.  It is my kind of town - New York is.....

This town has a life of its own. Note the street fair and, of course, people always in a hurry!

It's A New Day!

This blog was started four years ago and this is my first POST!  I've just started taking a photography class and I want to use this venue to share some of my photos!  Most of my pictures are of my travels, my pets or my children and grandchildren.   Along with the pictures, I will share some of my thoughts and opinions with regard to my subjects.  Please do keep in mind that these are MY thoughts only. 

My class instructor is Susan McConnell who is a fantastic photographer.  She owns the www.museeschool.com where I take my lessons.  My camera is a Canon Rebel T3.  As I learn how to use the camera, I hope that my pictures will reflect my abilities as a photographer.  I am currently using my iPhone to take pictures.  It does a great job - which is why I have over 500 pictures.  The pictures below are from my iPhone. 

 

This one is from my back yard with the pond in the background.  I've got a huge bullfrog and 15 koi and goldfish that make this pond their home.
